Doctor Mikaela Mueller’s joy comes from providing the best possible cardiology care to her patients, their human companions and their family veterinarian. Doctor Mueller has practiced Veterinary Medicine on the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts.

Doctor Mueller received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Miami University in Ohio. Her passion for animal lead her to apply and obtain a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Advanced Veterinary Care Center (since acquired by VCA) in Southern California. Doctor Mueller was then accepted into the Cardiology Residency Program at University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine by Doctor Leigh Griffiths, a board certified Cardiologist and Surgeon and then Department Head of Cardiology. Doctor Mueller became Board Certified in Cardiology during her third year of her residency.

Doctor Mikaela Mueller’s special interests in cardiology include congenital heart disease, management of acquired cardiac disease and congestive heart failure.

Doctor Mueller has contributed to Veterinary Medicine with her research and publications on the most common canine cardiac acquired condition referred to as degenerative mitral valve disease and on heart base tumors. At the University of California, Davis, Doctor Mueller was also awarded the Outstanding Small Animal Research Study and Presentation for “Use of Alive Cor Heart Monitor for Rate and Rhythm Evaluation in Cats”.

Outside of the hospital, Mikaela enjoys riding her wonderful Friesian horse Ollivander, aka Roel, tango dancing and hiking. She also likes spending time with a head strong boxer mix named Brandy and a goofy but handsome Maine Coon-Bengal mix named Nigel.
