Doctor Sarah Zimmerman hails from Arizona, but moved to Fort Collins, Colorado obtaining her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine. She continued her training by returning to Arizona to complete a one year internship program in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Mesa Veterinary Hospital in Phoenix, where she met her future husband, Nathan.
Doctor Sarah Zimmerman then returned to her alma mater, Colorado State University, to complete a Residency in Cardiology. During her rigorous three-year cardiology residency training, she focused her studies on complex arrhythmias, cardioversion, pacemaker therapy and the histopathology of myxomatous mitral valves (degenerative mitral valve disease), the most prevalent cardiac diseases afflicting our canine patients. She attained board certification and Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) with a specialty in Cardiology.
Doctor Zimmerman cherishes the sacred human animal bond and focuses her skills on the needs of both the animal patients and their human companions. Coast to Coast Cardiology is humbled and honored to have such a distinguished colleague on the team.
Doctor Zimmerman is a competitive and formidable CrossFit enthusiast who enjoys running on the beach, lifting weights with her husband and reading. She lives in the Southern California with her husband, cats, and dogs.
